You’ve Got This Birthday Card

By | June 21, 2015

I needed a birthday card for a female so I decided to make one with my new stamp set, You’ve Got This.  I am just loving that flower and background stamp.  It’s so great that you get 3 sayings, a flower, and a background stamp all in one stamp set.

The background stamp was inked in Mint Macaron and was stamped 4 times (each corner section) onto the Whisper White cardstock.  Don’t be afraid to overlap to get the desired look you want.

I stamped the flower in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and then colored using my Stampin’ Write Markers and Blender Pen.  I wanted to create a look where the “outside” of the flower was darker, while the “inside” was lighter.  I colored the “outside” with just the Cucumber Crush, Watermelon Wonder, and Delightful Dijon Stampin’ Write markers.

For the lighter sections, I scribbled a little bit of marker into the inside lid of my ink pads.  I then used my Blender Pen to pick up some color and essentially colored with it for the “inside” of the flower.  I could have also created this look using the ink pad, but I have found I get a more controlled lighter color by using the markers.

I fussy cut the flower out using my paper snips and adhered it using Stampin’ Dimensionals.  TIP:  Don’t waste the edges on the sheet of Stampin’ Dimensionals.  They may not be shaped as the hexagons, but you can still cut them to make them fit your needs.  I used some of the edges to raise the leaves since a regular hexagon shape would not fit there.

The sentiment is from the hostess stamp set Happy Birthday, Everyone.  This set is available only when you host a Stampin’ Up! party or you can qualify by yourself when you place a $150 or higher order.
