Mickey & Minnie Curvy Keepsake Boxes

By | September 22, 2015

Something you may not know about me, is that I am a huge Disney fan.  My husband and I try to go to Walt Disney World as often as possible.  We are really excited for our upcoming trip.

This trip, I wanted to do something special for the people that make our trip magical.  So to brighten their day, like they do ours, I made Mickey and Minnie Mouse Curvy Keepsake Boxes to put tips and wrapped candies.  I got a jump start on making the boxes today.

Is that adorable?!?!  I got the idea when I was searching Pinterest for ideas for Fall/Halloween themed Curvy Keepsake Boxes.  Cheryl Hamilton had created a Mickey and Minnie box for her daughter and I just loved it.  I decided to change it up slightly by not having the “pants” come up as high, smaller ears, no real buttons (just cardstock), and pink for Minnie.

I used the Curvy Keepsake Box Thinlits Dies and my Big Shot to make the box.  Just cut out two pieces and you have a curvy box!  I didn’t use the tag dies that come with it for this project, but I am sure they will come in handy later.

I used the 1-1/4″ Circle Punch for the ears.  I used my Stampin’ Trimmer to create a score line on the ears to better fold and adhere them down.

Mickey’s pant buttons were made out of Daffodil Delight cardstock and a 1/2″ Circle Punch.

The pants were a 1″ x 2-1/2″ strip of cardstock that I trimmed the edges down to match the box.
Mickey is made with Real Red Cardstock.
Minnie is made with left over retired Strawberry Slush Background Designer Series Paper.  This color is no longer available.  You could easily use a lighter pink or red to make your own.  I just wanted to use up some of the retired paper I had on hand.

I also cut a strip for the backside.  We wouldn’t want Mickey and Minnie to be naked in the back! Yikes!

Minnie’s bow was made with the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I cut two out of the same cardstock and adhered them down to just the one flap.  I wanted to make sure the box is able to be opened and closed with the ears and bow attached.

I put a large pearl in the center of the bow.

I hope the Disney cast members are pleasantly surprised with these boxes.  They always make our trip magical and full of laughter and smiles.  I just hope this can give them a smile in their day as well.
