Today is my mother-in-law’s birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAULA!!! 🙂
Today is also the last day of September, which means I have successfully completed the challenge from my upline of posting a new project each day of September. Wow did the month fly bye. If you have followed me all month, thank you! If you are just joining me, welcome! This was a great challenge to get me out of my comfort zone and creating every day. I look forward to continuing this momentum into October.
Now, on to the birthday card…
She loves cardinals and other birds, so I felt it would be perfect to use the new cardinal stamp from the Joyful Season stamp set. I love when a holiday item can be used for another purpose.
First, I stamped the tree branch outline in Soft Suede ink. Then I inked up the solid branch image in Soft Suede, BUT before I stamped it onto the cardstock, I stamped off. To stamp off means you ink a stamp, stamp it onto a scrap piece of paper, and then stamp it onto the cardstock without applying more ink to the stamp.
Next, the berries were inked up in Cherry Cobbler ink and lined up to match the berry circles on the tree branch.
Then, I inked up the cardinal outline in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and stamped it so the feet would be resting at the top of the branch. The feather layer of the bird was stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. I finished the cardinal by stamping the beak in Pumpkin Pie ink.
The sentiment comes from Butterfly Basics. There is a bundle available with this stamp set. The bundle was not used on this card, but it is always nice to know one is available if desired.
I popped up the Whisper White cardstock with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I love how beautiful this card looks with the white on white. I thought about using Cherry Cobbler for the card base, but decided the elegant and simplistic look of the white on white was better suited for my needs.
